First hard works

During this week here in Sinettä elementary school pupils and teachers have had many exams...but still we have had an opportunity to work with ICE...while we have hardly any snow over here up north. (At Helsinki there are currently app.50 cm snow.)

At the beginning of this week we went to Ounasjoki (a river near by our school) and pupils of physics and biology classes and teachers Mr. Pekka Pakisjärvi (physics) and Mr. Teuvo Pääkkölä  (biology) went to river with "ice-breaking" equipments for example ice-saws, motor/ chain saw  and some scientifical measuring device.  The weather conditions were cold enough to us - when we had about - 26 degrees celcius. During these lessons we brought some  "2 cubic meter" ice to our school yard for art lessons - to produce some installations for Christmas.  Ice was cut for smaller brics to be not so heavy to carry and work with...  This thursday (today) we brough more ice from river and pupils enjoyed much warmer weather (-10) but some wind made conditions a bit more difficult. During art lessons pupils started to make installations with high motivation and professional guidance by our art teacher Mr.Juhani Suominen.
